Categories are groups of collections. Categories allow you to organize your collections by whatever method you like. For example, you could make a category for every genre of your content.
To create a category, navigate to Content > Categories. Click the + Add button next to the Categories section of the Content page or + New Category in the upper right corner.
A window will then slide out where you can enter a category Name, Description, and Thumbnail. You can also make a Carousel that appears on the top of the Browse page that features all the content inside the category by checking the box at the bottom.
The Details tab is for Custom metadata - If you are using OTT API to collect data, add an API key to the pairs here. This can be applied to images or other values.
Under Access, you can determine who has access to content in this category.
Click SAVE and then you'll be taken back to the main collections list.
Click the collection checkboxes you want to add to the category and click the Add to Category button in the green banner that appears at the top of the page.
Then select the category you want to add it to by clicking the + symbol next to it; you can also create a new category directly in this window.
You can also add videos AND Collections to a category by clicking the on the category name in the list, then Add Content.
Select your collections or videos to add to the category. They will be added the category and that will appear on your Browse page:
Tip: If you have content that may belong in more than one category, you can add it to those categories in bulk.
Making a category out of movies and series collections
You have the ability to automatically highlight all of your movies and series in their own category-style rows on your site's Browse page both on the web and the apps. In order to do this, visit your site settings page (Distribution > Platforms > Website settings) and scroll down to the Browse Options section:
When toggled off, your browse page would look something like this:
When toggled on, you would see Movies and Series rows at the top; other Categories would be below:
