Free trials allow you to set a length of 3, 7, 14, or 30 days of free access to your content. This gives customers an opportunity to sample some of your content and can be a winning strategy as over ⅔ of free trial sign ups convert into paying subscribers.
When a customer subscribes using a free trial they enter their payment information. Once the trial ends they will be charged the monthly or annual price and their billing cycle will begin. They can cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid charges.
A $1 holding charge will be processed on the customer's card. These transactions will be reversed immediately and should disappear from accounts within 24 hours. The reason for this charge is to help prevent fraud.
How to set up the Free Trial
- First, you need to have a Subscription Product created.
- Click on the Products along the top in your admin page.
- Select your Subscription Product which will take you to the details page.
- Selecting the Pricing Tab you will find the Free Trials drop-down menu. Choose the time period you want to have. If you do not want to have Free Trials on, choose "Off".
You will not be charged the $1 price for a subscriber in a free-trial. You will be charged once the customer is in the paying part of the plan.
